1. Bloat-Eliminating Mexican Cabbage Soup

You may have previously heard of the “cabbage soup diet.” This is a popular weight-loss plan to lose weight by eating only cabbage soup.

Although we don’t recommend that, this twist on the classic recipe is great for accelerating weight loss. The cabbage in the soup acts as a diuretic, purging your body of excess water to make you feel less bloated and looking slimmer.

Not only does this soup have a ton of flavor, but the spicy chiles will naturally boost your metabolism.

With only 67 calories per serving, and 8.7 grams of fiber you won’t even notice that you’re eating fewer calories because it will leave you feeling full all day long.

Recipe

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

2 cups onions

1 cup carrot

1 cup celery

1 cup poblano or bell pepper

4 large cloves garlic

8 cups cabbage

1 tablespoon tomato paste

1 tablespoon minced chipotle chiles in adobo sauce

1 teaspoon ground cumin

½ teaspoon ground coriander

4 cups low-sodium chicken or veggie broth

4 cups water

2 (15 ounce) cans low-sodium pinto or black beans, rinsed

¾ teaspoon salt

½ cup chopped fresh cilantro

2 tablespoons lime juice

Optional garnishes: Crumbled queso fresco, nonfat plain Greek yogurt, diced avocado

Heat oil in a large soup pot over medium heat. Add chopped onions, carrot, celery, and peppers. Mince and add garlic. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes. Then add sliced cabbage. Cook for 10 minutes more.

Next add tomato paste, chipotle, cumin, and cilantro, cook for one minute.

Add broth, water, beans, and salt. Cover and boil over high heat then reduce heat and simmer. Make sure the vegetables are tender, so cook for 10 more minutes.

Remove from the heat and stir in cilantro and lime juice. Serve with garnishes of choice.

2. Super Green Detox Soup

Garlic and greens might not be foods you think of putting in a soup together, but we assure you, they are a much tastier combo than you may think.

Whether you had a long weekend of eating junk and are looking to get on track or simply want a detoxifying, fat-burning boost, this is a great option.

Similar to a green juice, using the same concept we have the green detox soup.

The kale and broccoli increase glucosinate in your system, which increases the power of your liver. This is essential to processing different enzymes and being the healthiest you can be.

With cilantro and parsley, you benefit from their digestion-aiding enzymes, which help to digest foods easily. The garlic is great for immune boosting and reducing nagging belly bloat.

Recipe

2 large yellow onions

1 zucchini not peeled

10 leaves kale

1 head broccoli

4 cups vegetable broth

1 head garlic

½ cup cilantro

½ cup parsley

Juice of 1 lemon

3 tbsp coconut oil

1/4 tsp sea salt

In a large pot, heat coconut oil over medium. Chop and add onions, cook for 5 minutes. Add chopped zucchini, kale and broccoli and cook for 5 more minutes.

Pour in vegetable stock and bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer. Leave for 15-20 minutes or until broccoli is easily pierced with a fork.

Turn off the heat and add minced garlic. Let sit uncovered for 15 minutes. Blend with cilantro, parsley, lemon, and sea salt until smooth.

5. Inflammation-Soothing Tumeric Tomato Soup

This delicious recipe combines turmeric and tomatoes. These are two unlikely ingredients to be mixed together, but when you do, each spoonful is loaded with metabolism-boosting magic.

Turmeric is the root of the plant called Curcuma. It has a peppery flavor and is known for being bright yellow.

Turmeric is amazing because of its anti-inflammatory properties, which help your body produce less cortisol (the fat-producing hormone). When you reduce your cortisol levels your body is primed to burn more stubborn fat.

Recipe

5 oz tomatoes

1 can diced tomatoes

½ cup stock (vegetable or chicken)

1 small onion

2 garlic cloves

2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp coconut or olive oil

½ tsp sea salt

1 tsp dried basil

1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Pepper

Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion and garlic until fragrant. Add turmeric and tomatoes, cook until the tomatoes soften. Add the can of tomatoes, soup stock, apple cider vinegar, and basil.

Bring to boil, cover with a lid and let simmer for six minutes. Then put it all into a blender. You can garnish with pumpkin seeds and fresh cracked pepper.
